Blair McKissock has 10+ years working in the field of Animal Assisted Therapy. She has been a NARHA registered instructor since 1998 but has worked with horses for over 15 years. She is a Recreational Therapist with specialties in experiential and adventure education as well as curriculum development and animal assisted therapy. Blair has had the opportunity to work with many different animals in therapeutic settings including dolphins and wildlife but horses kept her here. She earned her Masters degree from Purdue University in Education with an emphasis on animal assisted learning. While at Purdue she helped create a certificate in Animal Assisted Therapy for interdisciplinary students. She has gone on to consult and write curriculum for the Children's Museum of Indianapolis, 4-H, Black Stallion Literacy project, Encouragym and now for Morning Dove. She has presented her work at several national conferences including two national NARHA conferences. She is known for her nationally recognized Fatherhood Program for Dads and their children. Over the past few years she has been blessed to receive her EAGALA level one certification and to work with Arianna Strozzi in Equine Guided Education. She is also finishing the certification process for Wellcoaches. She is now a certified Diabetes Prevention Educator! Currently she works as the Program Director for a local therapeutic riding center and teaches classes including wellness coaching, yoga on horseback, riding with awareness and recreational therapy.
